About Me

HHS is a new company—my first venture into operating a service business. It began about six years ago when I left my corporate career in order to become a full time stay at home dad-sparked by the COVID shutdown. To stay productive, I spent what little free time I had offering my services to homeowners. Last year, I decided to return to full time employment. So I obtained my contractor’s license, and early in 2025 formed Hoyer Home Solutions, LLC. After twenty years spending my days in a cell cubicle, it was a welcome change. I couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Hi there, My name is Wilson. I’m a licensed Home Improvement Contractor, and have been repairing and improving homes since 1995. Thirty years sounds like a long time—and it is. I must, however, be clear that the vast majority of this was spent on my own homes and investment properties.

It began when I bought a condominium through HUD at the age of twenty. I completely renovated the space, assisted by a carpenter friend. At about the same time, he purchased his first investment property—the beginning of what would later be a little real estate empire. For about a year, I spent the majority of my free time assisting as he rehabbed the homes into rather nice rentals. When presented with the opportunity to buy my own two family at a great price, I jumped on it, and thus began my own venture into the world of real estate investment. Then of little means, I used my knowledge of carpentry to improve and maintain the properties, and added to my skillset along the way.

I was a high school graduate, with no real direction. I went with the tide. The upside was that I tried out a few different things. I discovered I could earn a handsome income working with computers–an interest of mine. Getting serious now, I returned to school, and earned a BS in computer science, added a bunch of certifications to my resume (including Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), and worked away at it until becoming a stay at home dad by default.

So there you have it: home improvement is a mid-life career change. I love the work, as well as the control I have as a self-employed contractor. I set my own timelines, and therefore don’t feel pressure to produce on someone else’s schedule. That always compromises quality. I’ve already made money—now my focus is on excellence. I’m not perfect, but always give it my best.

I look to build long-term relationships with good clients. If you value quality and professionalism, perhaps we should talk.
